Recently, the CIT-proposed project, Jiangsu Engineering Research Center for Resource Recycling Materials, was approved by Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission (JDRC), according to the published shortlist for the 2021 engineering research centers. To date, the number of CIT-led innovation platforms approved by JDRC has increased to 3, ranking CIT in the first place among the undergraduate colleges and universities without authorization to offer master degree programs. This will effectively facilitate the development of CIT’s relevant disciplines and specialties.

Engineering research centers are an important part of Jiangsu technological innovation system. With their qualification accredited by Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission, they are set up to improve the capabilities of independent innovation, enhance the core competitiveness of regional industries, and serve the major strategic tasks of the country and the province as well as the implementation of key projects.

The new addition, Jiangsu Engineering Research Center for Resource Recycling Materials, focuses on the key technical bottlenecks in the efficient utilization of solid waste resources, and builds an innovative R&D platform for the recycling of construction solid waste, high-performance recycling of scarce metal materials and the recycling of biomass materials. It aims to make breakthroughs in the key technologies of the whole industrial chain, ranging from waste detection, enrichment, recovery and recycling, and to contribute to technological upgrading of resource recycling materials and low-carbon industries.
