学校概况Profile of the University

常州工学院创建于1978年，是教育部批准成立的一所全日制普通本科高校。学校所在地常州市史有“龙城”之称，位于江苏省南部，长三角城市群中心地带，是一座有3200多年历史的文化古城，又是一座充满现代气息、经济发达的新兴工业城市。与上海、南京两大都市等距相望，火车1小时即可抵达。交通便利，有机场、高铁及高速公路通往全国各地。

Founded in 1978, Changzhou Institute of Technology (herein referred to as CIT) is a regular full-time undergraduate degree awarding institution approved by the Ministry of Education in China. CIT is located in the “Dragon City” Changzhou, which is in the south part of Jiangsu province with a history of over 3,200 years. It is now a modern, emergent industrial city with a well-developed economy. It is located in the centre of the Yangtze River Delta between Shanghai and Nanjing, each one-hour journey by train. The city’s advantages include convenient transportation facilities such as airports, high-speed train and expressways.

学校现有辽河路校区、巫山路校区、会馆浜路继续教育学院和长江路科技产业园，总占地面积近1300亩。现有教职工1200余人，全日制在校学生1.5万人，设有18个教学单位，开设54个本科专业，是一所以工科为主，工学、理学、管理学、经济学、文学、教育学、艺术学7大学科门类协调发展、综合性较强的多科性地方高等学校。

CIT has four campuses, namely, Liao He Road Campus, Wu Shan Road Campus, Hui Guan Bang Road Campus (School of Continuing Education), and Science and Technology Industrial Park. The total area is about 87 hectares.There are more than 1,200 staff members and 15,000 full-time students. CIT is a multidisciplinary university with 18 Schools/Teaching Sections, offering 54 undergraduate programs with majors in fields of Engineering, Science, Management, Economics, Literature, Education and Arts.

学校紧密结合区域经济、产业和技术结构特点，培养适应区域和地方经济社会发展需要的、高素质的具有创新精神和实践能力的应用型人才。目前，学校是国家“十三五”产教融合发展工程立项高校和首批启动高校，教育部和江苏省卓越工程师教育培养计划试点高校，教育部数据中国“百校工程”培育院校，教育部“科学工作能力提升计划（百千万工程）”首批试点高校，江苏省服务外包人才培养试点高校。

In consideration of the local economy, industry and technology characteristics, CIT aims at cultivating high-qualified practice-oriented talents with innovative ideas and practical abilities who can meet local social and economic development needs. Currently, CIT is among the first group of pilot universities that integrate industry with education in the 13^th Five-Year Plan. It is also listed as the pilot university in the National-Level and Provincial-Level Excellent Engineer Cultivation Plan, Ministry of Education Dada China 100 School Project, first group of pilot universities in the Ministry of Education Science Work Ability Improvement Program, and pilot university that cultivates service outsourcing talents in Jiangsu Province.
