I. About Changzhou
Changzhou, located in southern Jiangsu province, is seated in the center of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. It has a population of over 5.3 million and is blessed with a history of over 3,200 years and a highly developed economy. It is now China’s National Model City of Etiquette and Cultural Advancement, Chinese Excellent Tourist City, National Famous Historical and Cultural City, National Ecological City, National Forest City, National Pilot Low-Carbon City, China Habitat Environmental Award, “Tourism + Internet” Innovation Demonstration City, National Hygienic City, National Garden City, and National Advanced Area of Cultural System Reform. In 2023,Changzhou has gained a GDP of over 1,000 billion yuan.
Located between Nanjing (the provincial capital) and Shanghai, Changzhou constitutes a metropolitan area with Suzhou and Wuxi, where convenient transportation can be enjoyed. Changzhou Benniu International Airport is open to more than 40 domestic and foreign cities.
There are three railway stations in Changzhou, one in the city center, and the other two in the northern and southern part of the city. It only takes one hour to get to Shanghai by high-speed trains, and about 4 hours to Beijing. Metro line 1 and 2 are in operation which can make your transportation in the city more convenient.
II. About Changzhou Institute of Technology (CIT)
Founded in 1978, Changzhou Institute of Technology (herein referred to as CIT) is a regular full-time undergraduate degree awarding institution approved by the Ministry of Education in China with a more than 100-year history of offering Teacher Training Education.
CIT has a total area of about 87 hectares. There are about 1,300 staff members and over 16,000 full-time students (including about 100 international students). CIT is a multidisciplinary university with 19 Schools/Teaching Sections, offering 60 undergraduate programs with majors in fields of Engineering, Science, Management, Economics, Literature, Education and Arts.CIT has a modern library, excellent sports facilities, a training building for the integration of production and education, a cultural and art activity center, an international academic exchange center, as well as advanced teaching equipment and laboratories.For four consecutive years, CIT has ranked among the top 25 in the teaching development index of Newly-Established Undergraduate Universities in China. Over the past 45 years since its establishment, CIT has trained and delivered over 100000 high-quality talents that meet the needs of local economic and social development.
Constantly strengthening its international exchange and cooperation, CIT has established friendly cooperative relationships with more than 60 universities and institutions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Japan, etc. Besides, CIT has enrolled international students from more than 60 countries and regions. Meanwhile, CIT employs over 30 long-term and short-term foreign teachers to teach language and professional courses every year. They also give teaching demonstration lessons, hold activities such as teaching seminars and academic exchanges.
Since 1994, CIT has enrolled international students. CIT is a Target School for Overseas Study in Jiangsu Province, “Jiangsu Advanced Team in International Students’ Education”, Changzhou Learning Center of the Chinese Language & Culture for Foreigners, and Changzhou Chinese Culture Training Center for Foreigners. It is also a Hanban HSK test center. CIT boasts “Learning Center of Chinese Language” with advanced teaching staff.

III. Application Requirements
1. Foreign citizens, no criminal record, with good physical and mental health. For those who were originally Chinese citizens and has acquired foreign nationality, the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education will be implemented.
2. Good moral character, comply with Chinese Laws and regulations, and respect Chinese ethics and customs.
3. For Undergraduate Program, “3+2” Upgrading from Vocational to Undergraduate Program, Preparatory Undergraduate Program, applicants should be above 18 and under 24 years old, and should have obtained senior high school graduates or equivalent education level.
Applicants forUndergraduate Program, Upgrading from Vocational to Undergraduate Program should have Chinese proficiency Level 4 (HSK-4 with a score of 180 or above).
4. For Long-term Chinese Language Program, applicants should be above 18 and below 50 in principle.
5. Applicants for majors in economics or sciences should have certain mathematical basis. Those under the age of 18 should submit Guardian Prove Letter (Please refer to https://english.czu.cn/wownloads/list.htm to download).
IV. Programs
1.Undergraduate Program(taught in Chinese)
The standard education duration is 4 years (5 years for Architecture), with a maximum length of study not exceeding 6 years. In the first year of undergraduate studies, the School of International cooperation is responsible for cultivating students according to their major categories. In the second year, students enter relevant schools to study together with Chinese students in the same major. Students will be conferred graduation certificate upon obtaining the required total credits, prescribed credits and meeting the graduation requirements. Those who meet the requirements for the degree will be conferred bachelor’s degree certificate.

2.“3+2” Upgrading from Vocational to Undergraduate Program (taught in Chinese)
The standard education duration is 2 years , with a maximum length of study not exceeding 3 years. Applicants should have graduated from vocational colleges in China. After registration, applicants study together with Chinese students in the same major.
Students with all the courses successfully completed within the regulated period will be conferred a diploma and students meeting CIT’s degree awarding requirements will get the bachelor’s degree. For specific enrollment majors, please refer to Article 6 of this prospectus.
3.Preparatory Undergraduate Program
The Preparatory Undergraduate Program recruits students who want to study in CIT’s undergraduate programs without Chinese language foundation or fail to meet the language requirements for major study. The school duration is half or one year, offering courses such as Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading & Writing, and HSK Test Intensive Training etc.
4. Long-term Chinese Language Program
The program aims at training students’ Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing competence as well as improving their cross-cultural communication competences with the course learning period being one to four semesters. Students will be divided into different classes according to their Chinese levels. Courses mainly include Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Listening, HSK Exam Intensive Training, Chinese Culture, etc. Students attending all the courses and passing all the exams will get Study Certificate upon successful completion of all the courses.
5. Short-term Cultural Exchange Program
Only for students from foreign universities which have established educational cooperation with CIT.

Applicants shall be required to provide supplementary materials or be assessed by written test or interview. Admission results will come out through the online application system. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

X. Scholarships
1. CIT Special Scholarship for Excellent Degree Programs Applicants
This Special Scholarship is awarded to those excellent applicants who apply for Undergraduate Degree Program or “3+2” Upgrading Program. It is selected at the enrollment application stage. The reward standard is based on the comprehensive evaluation of freshmen's academic performance, interview results, etc., and the standard is 3000 yuan/student.
2. CIT Individual Scholarship for International Students
(1)Scholarship for Academically Outstanding International Students in CIT
Scholarship for Academically Outstanding International Students is awarded to undergraduate degree international students who have studied in CIT for more than one year and achieved excellent academic records. The evaluation of scholarship is between October and November every year. The scholarship is accessible to the yearly registered International students who pay full tuition, which is divided into three levels: first-class prize (6,000RMB); second-class prize (3,000RMB); third-class prize (1,000RMB).
(2)CIT Scholarship for Comprehensive Qualities of International Students
Scholarship for Comprehensive Qualities of International Students in CIT is awarded to undergraduate degree international students who actively take part in different sorts of scientific, sports, art or social activities and full play their talent to promote culture exchange. The evaluation of scholarship is between October and November every year. The amount of the scholarship is 500 RMB.
(3)HSK Scholarship
HSK Scholarship for International Students in CIT is aimed at encouraging students who complete the first year Chinese language study, achieve excellent marks in HSK and will continue their undergraduate degree study in CIT. Students will get the scholarship of 2000RMB (pass HSK5 or above) and the scholarship of 1000RMB (pass HSK4). HSK 4 and HSK 5 scholarship cannot be won at the same time.
3. Scholarship for Excellent International Students in CIT
Scholarship for Excellent International Students is awarded to international undergraduate degree students who have studied in CIT for more than one year and achieved excellent academic records. The evaluation of scholarship is between October and November every year. The amount of the scholarship is 9,000RMB.
Students who are awarded “CIT Excellent International Students Scholarship” can’t apply for individual scholarships.
4. Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship
The evaluation of Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship is in October and November every year. Students who are awarded “Jiangsu Government Scholarship” will be tuition free and can’t apply for other kinds of scholarship.
XI. Visa Application and Registration
Admittees should apply for a visa for study in China (X1) at the Chinese embassy (consulate) in the host country with materials such as the ordinary passport, the Admission Notice, the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202 form), and go to Changzhou Institute of Technology for registration at the specified time. Those who fail to pass the entrance examination after registration will be disqualified.
