On June 21, the 8-member delegation led by Marcin Zawiła, Mayor of Jelenia Góra, Poland, visited CIT. Wang Chuanjin, CIT’s Vice-President and Shen Lian, Deputy Director of Changzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office met the delegation members. Leaders and relevant teachers from Department of International Exchange and Cooperation attended the meeting.
Wang Chuanjin warmly welcomed the delegation. He briefly introduced CIT, including its history, scale, orientation, disciplines, international programs, international students’ education, etc. Mayor Zawiła introduced Jelenia Góra city.Grażyna Malczuk, President of Karkonosze College in Jelenia Góra and Elżbieta Sobczak, Dean of Wroclaw University of Economics, Jelenia Góra campus introduced respectively theircolleges, advantageous disciplines, and international cooperation programs. Discussions were held regarding joint programs in the fields of student exchange, scientific research, workshops, Chinese language and culture study and an initial cooperation intention was agreed on. After the meeting, the delegation members toured the CIT Liaohe campus.
Jelenia Góra is located in Lower Silesia, southwestern Poland. It has a population of 86,000 people and an area of 109 kilometers. Jelenia Góra means Deer Mountain in Polish. It is an ancient European city with a history of over 900 years. In April, 2011, Ms. Sophia, Deputy Mayor of Jelenia Góra attended the “Forum on Changzhou and International Sister City Tourism Industry Cooperation”. Changzhou and Jelenia Góra formally signed as sister cities on April 27, 2011.
