From May 30 to June 6, President Li Wenhu led a 5-member delegation to visit South Africa and the UK.
During the South Africa visit, the CIT delegation visited Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the Cape Academy of Mathematics respectively. CPUT Vice-President Anthony Stark, together with the International Office Director, and four professors from the Department of Environment, Department of Information Technology of Technology, and Department of Public Relations had detailed discussions and exchanges on cooperation between the two universities. President Li Wenhu and Vice-President Stark signed a MOU on behalf of each university, meaning the two universities will jointly carry out a student and teacher exchange program, internship program and scientific research program.
At the Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology, Principal Greg Van Schalkwyk stated an intention to recommend students to CIT for further study and expected CIT to send Chinese language teachers to its Confucius classroom to assist teaching. Mr. Kang Yong, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate in Cape Town witnessed the signing ceremony between CPUT and CIT and held a meeting for the two parties in the Consulate, further promoting and facilitating cooperation and progress between two universities.
During the UK visit, the CIT delegation attended themeeting of the two universities Joint Management Committeethat summarized the problems of program operation, and discussed solutions. Following a detailed discussion the two parties reached a basic consensus on issues such as the revision of the Software Engineering program, extended cooperation in the field of education, etc.
The delegation’s visit opened a new chapter in CIT’s cooperation with South Africa, and enhanced the cooperation relationship with our British partner, thus successfully completing the mission.
